IRON NEST Beginner Guide: Your First Firing Solution

IRON NEST is easier when you stop treating the room as a collection of levers. Every station belongs to one firing chain. Follow the order below, keep the fire-mission card with you, and verify every value before touching the trigger.

PRE-FIRE CHECK

Before you start

  • Read the incoming mission before moving any controls.
  • Keep target measurements on the clipboard.
  • Let the in-game calculator produce the firing solution.
  • Match shell, charges, bearing, and elevation to that solution.

The six-station workflow

Work left to right through the information chain. Do not jump to the loading deck because a target sounds urgent.

  1. Read the teleprinter or mission order and identify the target clues.
  2. Plot the information on the tactical map and obtain range and bearing.
  3. Enter the target data and selected shell in the in-game ballistic calculator.
  4. Keep the printed firing solution visible while you move to the loading platform.
  5. Load the requested shell and the calculated powder charges, then set bearing and elevation.
  6. Recheck all four values, arm the gun, and fire.

A safe first-shot routine

Use the same spoken checklist every time. Consistency is more valuable than speed during the first missions.

  1. Target confirmed.
  2. Range and bearing copied from the map.
  3. Shell and charges match the calculator output.
  4. Gun bearing and elevation match the printed card.
  5. Breech and firing controls are ready before the main trigger is pulled.

Operator noteIf a value is unclear, return to the station that produced it. Do not fill a gap from memory or guesswork.
