IRON NEST Controls and Clipboard: What Each Station Does

The most important control in IRON NEST is the information flow between stations. This guide maps each station to the value it receives and produces. Key bindings can change, so use the current in-game Controls menu for exact keyboard inputs.

  • Orders enter through the teleprinter or mission display.
  • Measurements stay on the clipboard while you move.
  • The tactical map produces range and bearing.
  • The calculator converts target data into a firing solution.

Know the job of each station

Think of the room as a physical data pipeline. A station is only useful when you know what information should enter and leave it.

  1. Teleprinter / mission station: provides target clues and mission constraints.
  2. Clipboard: carries copied notes and measurements between stations.
  3. Tactical map: turns target location work into range and bearing.
  4. Ballistic calculator: combines target data, shell choice, and charge settings into a firing solution.
  5. Loading platform: places the chosen shell and charges into the gun.
  6. Gun controls: set bearing and elevation, arm the system, and fire.

Use the clipboard as your error log

The clipboard is not decoration. It prevents a correct measurement from being lost while you cross the room.

  1. Copy the mission details you still need before leaving the order station.
  2. Use the red tactical-map tool when you need a range and bearing copied to the clipboard.
  3. Remove stale measurements so an old target cannot be mistaken for the current one.
  4. Keep the calculator output or fire-mission card visible during loading and gun laying.
